the ultimate hotel experience

In an article in Brandweek (Dec 4, page 9), it talks about how the Westin Hotel chain is starting a campaign about their hotel. However they don’t want to talk about their state of the art rooms or their outstanding service alone, but the entire experience together. They want to convey a feeling to their consumers. They don’t want Westin to be the hotel you go to when you just need a place, but when you need a place to get away, and actually experience a vacation. They have also started an online experience, so people can even get the experience and feeling before they even get to the hotel. Partnering with MSN, they provide music to give a 5 minute vacation to people.
I think it’s a really creative idea. It allows to consumer to link in their mind- Westin, and relaxation. I know when I’m traveling, its very important for my family to stay at a nice hotel, but also one where we can just relax and get away from any worries. Westin is doing a great job with this. I actually stayed at their hotel last year in LA, and they do an excellent job of just letting your worries go away
Some questions for thought: what other hotel is trying to get this association as well?

Personally, I think The Westin still has a lot of work to do in order to upgrade itself to the relaxation luxury vacation hotel. My family has always stay with The Westin in Boston when they come visit, and my parents stay with The Westin during their business trips. All the experiences we have are not that excellent. For us, The Westin is just another business hotel. I think the hotel should care more about their guests. One of the best experience my family and I had was at Four Seasons Villa on Bali Island. All the employees remember each guest by name and nationality. Guest can request anything and get it right away. Seriously,anything!!!
